Foster, Support and Promote Social Entrepreneurship in a Country or Region
Executive in Residence Social Entrepreneurship Program
- Have Ashoka Present on Social Entrepreneurship at YPO Chapter or Network Educational Events, organize YPO University tracks on Social entrepreneurship, or develop Academies including visits to Ashoka Fellows.
- Ashoka Learning Trips to visit a range of social entrepreneurship projects in a region to learn and see the region in a completely new way. Experience the beauty and wonder of a region’s natural attractions while also learning the behind-the-scenes innovations going on to address regional social needs. All trips accompanied by Ashoka Country staff.
- Organize a Social Investment / Social Entrepreneurship Panel or Conference for YPO. Custom arrangements made by Ashoka to identify and organize panel speaker participants to meet client goals. 11. Harvest Ashoka Fellow Learning and tap into Ashoka’s global knowledge base. Convene a one-day Focus Group of 3 to 5 Ashoka Fellows brought together with market knowledge that match your area of interest. The session includes group dialogue, one-on-one interviews, and optional follow-up site visits. All sessions are moderated by an Ashoka staff member who carefully selects the
appropriate Fellows and organizes the session. A written transcript of the session is provided.
- Ashoka’s Changemaker Families Program that engages your entire family in the process of learning, experiencing and supporting social change. Ashoka can develop a customized program for your family including multiple components that will engage your family members individually and together in the excitement and passion of effecting change. Components may include trips, internships, executive in residence programs, sponsoring youth entrepreneur teams, nominating Universities to the University Network, supporting region funds and global priority issue funds, or sponsoring a Fellow.

- Send your son or daughter to South Africa in July 2010 for a Youth Leadership Academy on social entrepreneurship. Spend 11 days in Johannesburg and in Cape Town learning from and engaging with local Ashoka Fellows and Youth Venturers. The trip is meant to introduce social entrepreneurship and have participants carry on a local project in their own community. Optional trip to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda immediately after leaving South Africa.
- Fund a “University Changemaker” Evaluation and Planning Session for your Favourite University.
- Custom Individual or Group Fellow Site Visits to projects created by Ashoka Fellows. The trips can include visits along with tours and dialogues/business problemsolving sessions with Ashoka Fellows.
- Sponsor Youth Entrepreneur Teams in making their dreams a reality by choosing and sponsoring young social entrepreneurs.
- Mentor a Fellow by joining the Ashoka Support Network. For details, go to: http://www.ashoka.org/asn.
- Sponsor a Collaboration of Ashoka Fellows that convenes 3 to 8 Fellows and YPOers for one day to share learnings, best practices, explore areas for joint ventures, and cooperative model replication.
- Ashoka’s Socially Inclusive Business Model Consulting offers corporations the opportunity to develop socially inclusive strategies and initiatives by contracting Ashoka Fellows to consult on issues ranging from corporate social responsibility to holistic business strategies. Deliverables will be customized according to business needs.
- Sponsor an Ashoka Fellow by making a three-year commitment to Supporting an Ashoka Fellow. Receive annual reports on activities and impacts made by the Fellow in his/her country as well as participate in an optional custom Fellow site visit.
- Sponsor Web-based Innovation Searches - Use Ashoka’s sophisticated web tools to source innovations in areas of particular interest to YPO. Purchase an Ashoka Changemakers Competition to effectively and efficiently surface innovation from all sectors and all parts of the globe.
- Fund an Ashoka Global Priority Focus Area such as climate change, empowering youth, women’s livelihoods, disability into the mainstream, good governance, cultural and religious tolerance, and social financing. Funding will support Ashoka programs, initiatives and Fellow searches and stipends in these tipping point issue areas.
- Invest in an Ashoka Fellow and their project by processing your Donation through Ashoka.
- Fund Ashoka’s initiatives to Foster, Support and Promote Social Entrepreneurship in a Country or Region such as South Africa, Southern Africa, Turkey, Arab World, Jewish world, Mexico, Canada, United States, Latin America, Africa, and Europe. Your contributions will support searching, vetting and selecting Fellows and bringing these Fellows together once a year with resource providers for collaborative entrepreneurship, best practices sharing and contacts.
- The Executive in Residence Social Entrepreneurship Program is a program that combines: (a) An inspiring 3, 6, 12 month volunteer placement opportunities with innovative systems-changing programs addressing social challenges, lead by professionals committed to supporting an influential civil society
worldwide. (b) An opportunity to become an Ashoka Social Entrepreneurship Executive and to join a vibrant alumni network, launched on national, regional and global levels. The network is managed by Ashoka’s Global Engagement Team and its mission is to disseminate the values and skills of social entrepreneurship in the society. During these volunteer placements, participants will be able to connect with Ashoka Fellows, Ashoka staff and leading business entrepreneurs, building an understanding of a region through the passionate people shaping its future. Each placement will be designed in close collaboration with Ashoka Fellows for an intimate set of participants and led by experienced and informed Ashoka staff, both on the global and local levels.
