Ashoka is constantly investigating and researching opportunities to support social entrepreneurship in new parts of the world. The major hurdle to overcome is funding — both initial start-up resources, and long-term sustainability. We do not enter countries unless we can be sure of our long-term ability to serve that country/region, either with local funding or global support. Our current priority countries for which we are raising money for expansion include:

• Rwanda
• Japan
• Israel
• Netherlands
• Vietnam
• Ethiopia
• Caribbean islands
